Deng Deng Age: 20 Region: Weil I was six years old when the Arabs attacked us, and our family fled to north Sudan where we lived for six year. We lived in a dangerous situation. I didn’t feel safe. I didn’t know if I would live or die and often had sweating attacks during the war. My father died during the war. I have one living and one living sister. I moved to Cairo, Egypt, where I lived for three years in a refugee camp. The church helped me find work and buy cloths. I helped with activities in the church and I sand in the choir. I emigrated to the United States of September 8, 2004. Before I came here, I prayed to God for help. I trust God and I give my life to God. I dreamed I would come to the United States while I lived in the Camp. I went through a brief orientation in Cairo about the United States. I liked everything here. No one will hassle you. I have some painful medical problems with digesting food and water. I don’t know what it is, something that happened during the war. Getting an education in most important. I want to go to school and graduate, but my medical problems prevent me from going at this moment. I’ve made registration for the job corps and I am waiting for approval.
