In June of 2000, after 35 years as a professional flutist, university teacher and administrator, he retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona. He now holds the title of Professor of Music, emeritus, from Northern Arizona University. During his career, Phil was active as a private teacher, a professional orchestra, chamber music, and solo flutist as well as a master class teacher and ler::turer. He was one of the founders of the National Flute Associaticn and founder of the Tucson Flute Club. His teaching and administrative career in higher education included full-time appointments at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, University of Arizona, Eastman School of Music, University of Redlands and Northern Arizona University. In retirement, he continues to teach privately and is becoming increasingly busy presenting solo recitals and master classes. He has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Tucson Flute club and enjoys being actively involved again with this organization. In addition, he continues as principal flutist with the Desert Symphony Orchestra in Southern California - a position he has held for the past two decades. Dr. Patricia Laliberte, Professor Emeritus, earned a D.M.A. degree in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. She taught at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, from 1970 to 1998 as a Professor of Piano, Piano Pedagogy, Music History and Accompanying. She has performed in solo and chamber music in Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, England, Hungary and Hawaii. In concerto, she has performed with the Chicago NBC Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Community Orchestra, Chicago West Suburban Orchestra, Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, the University of Minnesota Orchestras among others, As a collaborator she has performed in concert with Eduard Melkus, Sergiu Schwartz, New Art String Quartet, Paul Fried, Leopold LaFosse, Gerald Fischbach, David Walter, Ann Leek and Samuel Baron (who wrote of her: "exceptional performing partner alert and sensitive"). Since retiring to Northern Arizona in 1998, Patricia has performed at Northern Arizona University, Yavapai College, Prescott, and in various venues in Sedona and Cottonwood.
