An active composer as a student, he conducted his own composition at thirteen. He studied at Eastman School of Music with Cecile Genhart and Barry Snyder. He won the Eastman Concerto Competition and Performers Certificate and graduated with honors. He also studied in Europe with Joerg Demus. He won the grand prize from the International Piano Recording Competition and grants from the DAAD and the NEA. His performances have been praised in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Arizona Republic, and the Korean magazine Musica di Pianoforte. He has performed in Korea, Russia, Europe, and Canada. He is Professor of piano and Keyboard Area Coordinator at the Arizona State University School of Music. He can be heard on ACA Digital, Advance, ARF, Canyon, JIGU, Koch, and Summit records. Cosand's first full solo recital in Tempe was presented January 12, 1977. He played music by Beethoven, Schoenberg, Ives, Prokofiev, and the Chopin work to be performed tonight. Performance Events Staff Manager Paul W.
