RECITAL HALL Thursday, March 2, 2000. 7:30 Rebocca Rischin, Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Ohio Univcrsity since i995, holds the Bachelor of Arts, cum laude and Master of Music degrees liom Yale University, the performance DiplOme from the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, and the Doctor of Music degree from Florida State University. Her awards, grants, and distinctions include: tirst place (second prize) at the 1994Intcrnational Clarinet Competition in Cracow, Poland; finalist for the hincipal Clarinet position of the BBC Symphony in London; a Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship for performance study in Paris; and a Florida State University Dissertation Fellowship for her treatise on Oliver Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time. I George Gershwin 1898-1937 Allegro ben ritmato e deciso Allegro ben ritmato e deciso (arr. for clarinet and piano by James Cohn) A native of San Francisco, at the age of seventeen Rischin was selected by the clarinetist Richard Stoltzman to be the featured soloist at the 1985 San Francisco Mayor's Command Performance. As winner of the 1987 Williun Waite Concerto Compctition, she soloed with the Yzrle Symphony on their 1988 tour of Creat Britain. Other solo appearances include recitals A the Fondation des Etats-Unis in Paris and at the second and fifth International Clarinet Festivals in Cracow. She has performed as a collaborative artist with the Lark Quartet and as an orchestral musician with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and ttre Promusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus and has participated in numerous summer music festivals including Aspen, Sarasota, Rendezvous (1947) Kent/Blossom, and Waterloo. Her teachers include David Shifrin, Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Frank Kowalsky, Professor of Clarinet at Florida State University, and Guy Deplus, Professor Emeritus of the Paris Conservatory. She is a member of Pi Kappa t ambda Phi Kappa Phi, the Music Teachers National Association, the International Clarinet Association, the Ohio Music Educators Association, and the American Fcderation of Musicians.
