It is our intention to offer our students the oppornrnity to play in and be exposed to as many varied musical experiences as possible. This does, in some way, mirror the professional musician's life. In addition to experiencing the variety of jazz ensembles, the student is also expos-ed to the tremendous legacy left to us by the jazz masters such as Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, etc., rhrough the playing of their music. However, it is not our intention to recreate- the past, but instead to encourage our students to seek out ttleir individual musical voice and to express their creativity. The jazz students of today can become the jvz masters of tomorrow.
