AMERICAN TRADITIONS HOPE KOEHLER, MEZZO-SOPRANO ROBERT MILLS, PIANO ERIN ALDRIDGE, VIOLIN & VIOLA / FACULTY AND GUEST ARTIST CONCERT SERIES KATZIN CONCERT HALL SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2007 • 2:30 PM M U SIC --1-i-erberger College of the Arts ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY Erin Aldridge has won numerous awards as both soloist and chamber musician and has been featured as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, South America, and the United States. She is a sought after performer, clinician, and presenter. Dr. Aldridge holds degrees from Indiana University, University of MilwaukeeWisconsin, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her teachers have included Josef Gingold, Nellie Shkolnikova, Rostaslav Dubinsky, the Fine Arts Quartet, Efim Boico, and Vartan Manoogian. Currently, Dr. Aldridge is a member of the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Superior where she is Assistant Professor of Music, a member of the faculty piano trio Trillium, and Director of Orchestras. In April 2005 she was appointed concertmaster of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Hope Koehler received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Her Doctor of Musical Arts degree was completed at the University of Kentucky in Lexington where she studied with soprano Gail Robinson. Currently, she teaches voice and opera at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Dr. Koehler has appeared in many operas, including the title roles of Carmen, Fidelio, and Madama Butterfly. She has also appeared in concert venues all over the United States, as well as Europe and China. Dr. Koehler is a regular performer and featured soloist with the American Spiritual Ensemble, a group that performs all over the world, and whose mission is to keep the American Negro Spiritual alive and vibrant. She has also been on the faculty of the prestigious Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts for six years and in 2006 served as chair of the vocal music department. In addition, in July and August of 2006 she was a member of the voice faculty at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Dr. Robert Mills is assistant professor of Music and the vocal coach/accompanist for Arizona State University's Lyric Opera. Dr. Mills holds a BA in Music from the University of Maryland as well as a MM and a DMA in Accompanying from Arizona State University. Additionally, Dr. Mills holds both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Library Science from Brigham Young University. For nearly three years, Dr. Mills served as an assistant vocal coach and accompanist for the Opera Institute at Boston University. In 2005 he joined the American Institute of Musical Studies Summer Program (AIMS) in Graz, Austria as a repetitor/coach. Prior to joining ASU's faculty, he was the coordinator of piano accompanying at Mesa Community College. Dr. Mills has collaborated with vocal artists and technicians such as Ariel Bybee, Ingo Titze and Phyllis Curtain, in concert, workshop and master class settings.
