Hill is Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Arizona State University where he conducts the Wind Symphony and the Chamber Winds, teaches conducting, Tylman Susato Selections from the Danserye (1551) (c. 1510 – c. 1570) Arranged by Patrick Dunnigan and is director of the Digital Conducting Laboratory. Hill also serves as conductor for 'Chamber, Phoenix's professional new music ensemble. Prior to Hill's appointment at ASU, he held similar posts at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, at East Texas State University, and was Associate Director of Bands at the J.S. Bach Prelude and Fugue in G minor (1685 - 1750) Transcribed by R.L. Moehlman University of Colorado, Boulder. A native of Michigan, he earned degrees in music education and wind instruments from the University of Michigan and then served as Director of Bands for the West Bloomfield and Traverse City public schools. High school, university, and professional ensembles under Hill's direction have Brief Intermission given performances for the National Band Association, the Music Educators National Conference, the College Band Directors National Association, the International Horn PART II Symposium, the National Flute Association, at many state conventions, and throughout North America, and Europe. As a guest conductor and clinician, Hill has performed "Adagio" & "Finale" from Serenade in B-flat, K 370a (1783) W.A. Mozart with myriad high school honor bands, numerous college and university wind bands and (1756 - 1791) orchestras, and has given hundreds of workshops on conducting and rehearsal technique Thomas Keck, conductor for instrumental teachers of all levels. Performances conducted by him have consistently drawn praise from composers, performing musicians, and critics alike for their insightful, Richard Strauss Serenade in E-flat, Op. 7 (1881) (1864 - 1949) Shawn T. Smith, conductor inspired, and cohesive realizations, and for their imaginative programming. Hill has developed a conducting pedagogy that promotes the systematic and parallel evolution of the musical and kinesthetic perceptions and skills utilized in conducting, thereby advancing the genuine articulation of musicianship through bodily actions. As PART III the director of Arizona State University's Digital Conducting Laboratory, Hill is involved with the investigation of digital technologies applicable to the teaching of conducting. BIOGRAPHIES (CONTINUED) WIND SYMPHONY PERSONNEL Thomas Keck is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting FLUTE SAXOPHONE TUBA at Arizona State University. In addition to his studies at ASU, Keck co-conducts the Monique Brouwer* Ryan Bledsoe* (Alto)5 Rachel Hertzberg Concert Band and assists all of the bands in the School of Music, including the Sun Christina Klapper Harout Boyajian (Tenor) Tom McCaslin*5 Devil Marching Band. For the past five years, Keck served as Director of Athletic Katie Lindeman' Kevin Gorman (Baritone) Curtis Peacock Bands at the University of New Hampshire. In that capacity, he oversaw all aspects of Elany Mejia Steven Yarbro (Alto) William Russell FRENCH HORN PERCUSSION the Wildcat Marching Band and Pep Band and taught courses in conducting, music Nina Moran' education and percussion. In 2001, the UNH Marching Band was chosen to perform Angela Rich for Prince Rainier on New Year's Day at the Palace of Monaco as part of a nine-day Michelle Van Unen2 tour through France and Italy. Keck served as the New Hampshire State Rebecca Jolly Ryan Semrau Andrea Venet Chairperson for CBDNA, NBA, and was Collegiate Coordinator for the NHMEA. Keck received his B.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois and M.A. in Music Education from the University of Iowa. After receiving a Bachelor of Music Michael Harrel Sarah Stoneback in Music Education from Boise State University, Smith was appointed Director of Heather Henderson Allyn Swanson Bands and Orchestra at Meridian High School (Idaho), where his ensembles were Lesley Hughes (E-flat) distinguished as among the finest in the state. Smith's studies in conducting have taken Natalie Pascale him throughout the country, including the Advanced Conducting Symposium at Mindy Pyle Nikki DoBell* Offutt Air Force Base (Nebraska) with Mallory Thompson and the University of North Shanti Raval Charles Hopkins Texas Conductor's Collegium with Eugene Corporon. He is an accomplished trumpeter, having played in the Boise Philharmonic Brandon Yarns Shiori Yoshida Shawn Smith is in his first year at Arizona State University pursuing a D.M.A. in Orchestra (Idaho) and served as principal trumpet in the top ensembles at both Boise State University and Louisiana State University. Most recently, Smith played principal trumpet in the Louisiana 2003 CBDNA Intercollegiate Honor Band under the baton of H. Robert Reynolds.
