It is a replica of an instrument made by Johann Schantz, Vienna ( 1795). The fortepiano, whose compass is five octaves plus two halfsteps in the treble (FF-ggg), features knee-lever (damper-lifiing) and hand-stop (moderator). It is the genuine instrument for music written between ca. 1770 and 1800 - a time that lorcw nothing of the modern concert-grand piano - and blends beautifully with stringed instruments and especially with the votce.
