n I ffi#ffi JAZZ CONCERT SERIES OMB Beth Mike Johnny B u PROGRAM SELECTIONS TO BE ANNOUNCED The ASU.Iazz Studies Program Tlrc jazz ensemble you are about to hear tonight is just one example of the many and diverse jazz ensembles at ASU. It is our intention to offer our students the opportunity to play in and be exposed to as in some way, mirror the professional musician's life. In addition to experiencing tlre variety of jazz ensembles, the student is also exposed to the tremendous legacy left to us by the jazz masters such as Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, etc., through the playing of their music. However, it is not our intention to recrcate the past, but instead to encourage our students to seek out their individual musical voice and to express their creativity. The jazz students of today can become the PERFORMERS Dwight Killian, coach many varied musical experiences as possible. This does, jazz masters of tomorrow.
