Paths are made by walking.
Elsewhere in the text, the composer took the name of Miami, broke it down
into syllables, and then let the syllables mutate into phrases that suggest
love andfiendship in French, Italian, and Spanish. Hatfield draws on several
Afro-Cuban and Latino influences without emulating a specffic style. He
depicts the interdependent, interlocking movements of peoples and cultures:
the wheels within wheels of a great city.
