He has worked with the Maria Schneider Big Band, the BMI Orchestra, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, Michael Moore, Jim McNeely, David Krakauer, Cuong Vu and Pablo Ziegler. His recent chamber piece, "The Cloud of Unknowing", was commissioned by the Bamberg Symphony Choir and issued on the Berlin Classics label. His Gil Evans Fellowship Commission, "A Blessing", was premiered at the 2002 IAJE Conference in Long Beach, California and his IAJE/ASCAP Commission, "Folkmoot", was premiered at the IAJE Conference in Toronto in 2003. Also this year, John was nominated as the "Up and Coming Jazz Musician of the Year" by the Jazz Journalists Association and a 2003 "Rising Star Composer" in Downbeat's Critic's Poll. Matt Moran has distinguished himself as a vibraphonist with a revolutionary and unique approach to the instrument. He leads the group Sideshow (songs of Charles Ives) and collaborates with artists such as Joe Maneri, Mat Maneri, Mark Dresser, and Theo Bleckmann. Matt is also an avid teacher and performer of Balkan music, and leads an outfit called Slavic Soul Party. PROGRAM SELECTIONS TO BE ANNOUNCED. Ted Reichman has the versatility and musicality to make the accordion work in klezmer (with David Krakauer), free jazz (in duo with Anthony Braxton), and pop (Paul Simon). He is currently finishing his first CD as a recording on John Zorn's Tzadik label and touring with Roberto Rodriquez's Septet. Drew Gress is one of NYC's most in-demand bassists, currently performing and touring with Tim Berne, Uri Caine, Don Byron, Fred Hersch, among others. As a composer and bandleader he has recorded two albums: "Heyday" & "Spin and Drift" and regularly tours with these groups. Chris Speed performs in the bands of Tim Berne, Jim Black, Dave Douglas, Myra Melford, Erik Friedlander, Mark Dresser, Ben Perowsky, Briggan Krauss and leads his own ensembles, Pachora, Yeah, No & Trio Iffy. The Claudia Quintet is touring in support of their first recording, entitled The Claudia Quintet, which was released on CRI/Blueshift on January 1, 2002. This recording received critical acclaim including 4 stars from Downbeat magazine, "Best of 2002" by Jazztimes and a "CHOC" from Jazzman.
