In Sharing Unimaginable Worlds, guest choreographer Claudia Lavista, artistic director of Delfos Danza, inspires ASU dancers to approach dance in a new light – not as an illustrative event but as a laboratory of images and emotions in movement arising from the creation of the work. Bach and the Italian Influence Jeffrey Campbell, organ 2:30 p.m. — March 26, 2006 THEATRE ORGAN Venus is based on the true story of the "Venus Hottentot," a woman lured from her African home in 1810 and stuck in a London freak show by those fascinated with her large posterior. The play addresses issues of gender, race and class through a theatrical lens. Waking Up in Lost Hills is a modern Rip Van Winkle with norteno music, puppets and a dash of magical realism. Genesis of Genius continues with four more performances. Kimberly Marshall and Jeffrey Campbell enlighten audience's spirits as they demonstrate Johann Sebastian Bach's extraordinary talents and the influence regional techniques had in Bach's organ music. Bach Johann Sebastian Bach Antonio Vivaldi/arr. Bach J. S. Bach 1 Jeffrey Campbell has distinguished himself throughout North America as an organ recitalist, choral conductor and clinician. He has performed the organ works of Bach to great acclaim in his native Canada. A graduate of both the University of British Columbia and Northwestern University in Chicago, Dr. Campbell has specialized in the interpretation of Bach's organ and choral music, as well as English and French Romantic repertoire. Since August 2001, he has been Associate Music Director and Principal Organist at the Episcopal Church of St. Philips in the Hills, Tucson, Ariz. Recent engagements have included performances on the Fritts instrument at Arizona State University, and the Schoenstein organ at the University of Arizona. This season, he is collaborating with Kimberly Marshall to present Genesis of Genius a seven-part concert panorama of the complete free organ works of Bach, performed both in Tucson and Tempe. In Pursuit of Art: Early Organ Music as Didactic Material February 18, 2007 – 2:30 p.m. Siegbert Rampe, organist and clavichordist ASU's new professor of Early Music, Siegbert Rampe, introduces audiences to ASU's new pedal clavichord by master builder Gary Blaise. Rampe has chosen repertoire that was used to teach improvisation and composition. Half of the program will be on clavichord, and the other half on organ.
