/ Chamber Music Series The Sonoran Chamber Music Series ASU School of Music Katzin Concert Hall Sunday, October 19, 2014 2:30 p.m. Henry Gronnier, Violinist Thomas Landschoot, Cellist Rina Dokshitsky, Pianist About The Artists Violinist Henry Gronnier is a founding member and first violinist of the Rossetti String Quartet. While specializing in chamber music, Gronnier also has led a distinguished career as both a recitalist and an orchestral soloist, having performed in such venues as London's Wigmore Hall and Carnegie's Weill Hall in New York City. He has performed at an array of chamber music festivals throughout the Americas and Europe, including the Festival of Two Worlds, Spoleto in both Italy and in Charleston, S.C., the Lucerne Festival, The Festival Mediterraneen, Festival Albert Schweitzer, and Festival Zino Francescatti, the Mostly Mozart Festival and Caramoor Festival in New York, the Casals Festival of Puerto Rico, and Mexico's Festival de San Miguel de Allende. Gronnier's studies included work at the Conservatoire National de Region de Versailles, where he received a Gold Medal, followed by further studies with Michele Auclair and Zino Francescatti. His subsequent full scholarship at the University of Tulsa led to him working with the renowned French violinist, Nell Gotkovsky. Mr. Gronnier has shared musical stages with many leading artists, including Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Chantal Juillet, Anne Queffelec, Carter Brey, Eugenia Zukerman, Lucas Foss, and many others. Henry Gronnier has been a member of the violin faculty of the USC Thornton School of Music, and was the Thornton School's Director of Chamber Music. Currently he is on the faculty of the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles. Praised for his expressive and poetic music making, Belgian cellist Thomas Landschoot enjoys an international career as a pedagogue, as well as a concert and recording artist. As an active soloist, he has performed recitals and concerto performances in Brussels, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Taipei, Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Bucharest, and Loja, Equador with orchestras like the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Orchestra of the White House and the Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra. He has performed at renowned festivals and music series including Barge Music, Park City, Santa Barbara, Mammoth Lakes, Eureka, High Peaks, Utah, Red Rock, Waterloo, Killington and Texas Music Festivals. His CD recordings are released on Summit, Organic, Kokopelli, ArchiMusic and Centaur Records. Over 20 new compositions have been written for Tom Landschoot, including two large symphonic cello concertos by two leading European contemporary composers: 'Prix de La Musique' winning Frank Nuyts and director of the Phil!ldelphia Chamber Orchestra Dirk Brosse. Thomas Landschoot was appointed to the faculty of music at Arizona State University School of Music in 2001, after having taught at the University of Michigan. In 2013, Landschoot joined the Rossetti String Quartet. Thomas Landschoot performs on a Tommaso Balestrieri cello and a Dominique Pecatte bow. Israeli pianist Rina Dokshitsky gave her first solo appearance at age thirteen, performing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No.1 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. At age twenty-one, Dokshitsky won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and consequently made her debut recital at the 92nd Street Y and Kennedy Center. Two years later she received fifth place at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition and was awarded a special prize as the best Israeli performer. Dokshitsky has performed extensively as a solo recitalist and her orchestra appearances have included the Israel Philharmonic, the Jerusalem Symphony, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the New England Conservatory Symphony, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Lake Charles Symphony, the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and the Santa Monica Symphony. Festival appearances have included performing at Spoleto Festival in the U.S. and Italy, Chamber Music East, Grand Teton Festival and Ravinia Festival. She often has collaborated with cellist Alban Gerhardt with whom she performed at 92nd Street Y, Kennedy Center, Casals Festival in Puerto Rico, and on a tour of Japan. She also recorded a CD with Gerhardt under the EMI label. Dokshitsky is also passionately dedicated to her teaching and is highly sought after as a piano teacher. She resides in Los Angeles and regularly collaborates with the Rossetti String Quartet and with violinist Henry Gronnier. Program Prelude and Fugue no.
