About The Artists A native of the Netherlands, pianist Robert Moeling has received international acclaim as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist. He has been a concerto soloist with orchestras such as the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Denver Chamber Orchestra. As a collaborative artist he has performed with the likes of Joshua Bell, Cho Liang Lin, Lynn Harrell and Karl Leister. He is a frequent guest with organizations such as the Park City Chamber Music Society, the Sitka Festival, the Amsterdam Chamber Music Society, Anchorage Winter Classics Chamber Music International, Dallas and the Texas Music Festival. A devoted pedagogue, he has held posts at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Conservatory, Bethany College, Concordia University and Codarts, the University for the Performing Arts in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He is currently Artist Teacher of piano in the preparatory program at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. Together with flutist Leone Buyse and clarinetist Michael Webster, Moeling is pianist of The Webster Trio, in residence at Rice University. Moeling has been artistic director of the Wisconsin Conservatory's Faculty/ Guest Artist Series and the Ling Chamber Society in Lindsborg, Kansas. With his wife, flutist Patrice Moeling, he is currently co-artistic director of HausMusik in Houston, Texas. Paul Rosenthal was born in 1942 and began playing the violin at the age of three. He studied with Dorothy DeLay and Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School and with Jascha Heifetz at the University of Southern California. In 1972, Rosenthal founded the Sitka Summer Music Festival which continues to attract musicians and audiences from many countries and is recognized as one of the outstanding chamber music festivals in the United States. He also directs the festival's affiliated Autumn Classics and Winter Classics series in Anchorage. As soloist and chamber musician, this last season Mr. Rosenthal has performed with orchestras from Alaska to New York and in recitals and chamber music series in the U.S., Canada, Germany, Holland, Scotland and the Bahamas. He can be heard in recordings on the RCA, Vox, Fidelio, Arabesque, Vanguard and Biddulph labels. Most recently released are a premiere recording of the String Quintet Op. 14 by Taneyev and Tchaikowsky's Souvenir de Florence, recorded in 1968 with Jascha Heifetz and Gregor Piatigorsky. Paul Rosenthal holds honorary degrees as Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Alaska and Doctor of Music from Alaska Pacific University. He performs on a violin made by Joseph Guarnerius in Cremona in 1706. ................ , ................................ . .. Throughout 28 years and over 2000 concerts as violist with the Medici String Quartet, lvo-Jan van der Werff has toured the world, playing in major venues and cities in more than 50 countries on 5 continents as well as playing on over 40 recordings, including the complete Beethoven cycle. He has also recorded viola works by Max Reger and Arnold Bax. With the quartet he has held residencies and taught viola and chamber music at the Universities of Kingston, Lancaster and Surrey in the UK, the Royal Academy of Music in Stokholm, Sweden and the Nan Yang University in Singapore. For 10 years he was a professor at the Royal College of Music, London and now is a full time professor of viola and chamber music at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, Houston. Ivo-Jan van der Werff runs his own Summer School for Violists in the Catskill Mountains near New York and has written 'A Notebook for Viola Players', a series of technical exercises and explanations of viola technique. Praised for his expressive and poetic music making, Belgian cellist Thomas Landschoot enjoys an international career as a pedagogue, as well as a concert and recording artist. As an active soloist, he has performed recitals and concerto performances in Brussels, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Taipei, Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Bucharest, and Loja, Ecuador with orchestras like the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Orchestra of the White House and the Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra. He has performed at renowned festivals and music series including Barge Music, Park City, Santa Barbara, Mammoth Lakes, Eureka, High Peaks, Utah, Red Rock, Waterloo, Killington and Texas Music Festivals. His CD recordings are released on Summit, Organic, Kokopelli, ArchiMusic and Centaur Records. Thomas Landschoot was appointed to the faculty of music at Arizona State University School of Music in 2001, after having taught at the University of Michigan. In 2013, Landschoot joined the Rossetti String Quartet. Thomas Landschoot performs on a Tommaso Balestrieri cello and a Dominique Pecatte bow.
