.. onoran Chamber Music Series The Sonoran Chamber Music Series ASU School of Music Katzin Concert Hall Sunday, March 1, 2015 2:30 p.m. Dina Vainshtein, Pianist Thomas Landschoot, Cellist About The Artists Program Russian-born pianist Dina Vainshtein has degrees from the Gnesin Institute of Music in Moscow, the Cleveland Institute of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. Her principal teachers were Boris Berlin and Vivian Hornik Weilerstein. She received a Special Prize for Best Collaboration at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1998) . She also won prizes at the Schubert and Modern Music International Competition in Austria (1997) and the All-Union Russian Piano Competition (1993) . She has performed at such prestigious venues as Alice Tully Hall and Weill Hall in New York City, Jordan Hall in Boston and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. She has also performed at the Ravinia Festival, Caramoor Festival, Music Academy of the West (Santa Barbara), Meadowmount and the Heifetz International Music Institute. She has appeared as a soloist with I Musici de Montreal and as a guest artist with the Borromeo String Quartet. She has given live performances on WGBH (Boston) and for NPR's Performance Today series, and her recording for the Naxos label with violinist Frank Huang received critical acclaim . At present she is a collaborative pianist for the Walnut Hill School and the New England Conservatory. Sonata for Cello and Piano in d minor Praised for his expressive and poetic music making, Belgian cellist Thomas Landschoot enjoys an international career as a pedagogue, as well as a concert and recording artist. As an active soloist, he has performed recitals and concerto performances in . Brussels, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Taipei, Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Bucharest, and Loja, Ecuador with orchestras like the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Orchestra of the White House and the Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra. He has performed at renowned festivals and music series including Barge Music, Park City, Santa Barbara, Mammoth Lakes, Eureka, High Peaks, Utah, Red Rock, Waterloo, Killington and Texas Music Festivals. His CD recordings are released on Summit, Organic, Kokopelli, ArchiMusic and Centaur Records. Over 20 new compositions have been written for Tom Landschoot, including two large symphonic cello concertos by two leading European contemporary composers: 'Prix de La Musique' winning Frank Nuyts and director of the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra Dirk Brosse. Thomas Landschoot was appointed to the faculty of music at Arizona State University School of Music in 2001, after having taught at the University of Michigan. In 2013, Landschoot joined the Rossetti String Quartet. Thomas Landschoot performs on a Tommaso Balestrieri cello and a Dominique Pecatte bow . ..
