Gladly they would bring down the stars, which gleam and sparkle above, would attract Luna's sweet embrace would happily draw down the warm, happy days of blessed gods upon us! Kas Tie Tadi In shadows of the forest , in the bush branches, there the breeze jumps and rustles and whispers at the same time. It nickers the flames and spreads the light as colorful figures on the leaves and rocks. It is the gypsies movable throng with flashing eyes and with flowing hair, nursed on the Nile's holy waters, burned by Spain's southern glow. Round blazing fires of swelling greenery, there camp the men, wild and bold, there crouch the women, preparing the meal and busily filling the old goblets. And stories and songs ring out in the round of Spain's gardens blooming and colorful and magical sayings for trouble and danger passed by the old to the listening crowd. He is currently a teaching assistant for the ASU Choral Department and serves as the director of the ASU Men's Chorus. Brook has studied with Weston Noble, R. D. Mathey, Paul Sahuc, and Mark "Moose" Simmons. · Kimilee D. McCreary, an Arizona native, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education at Grand Canyon University in 1988 and a Master of Music degree from Arizona State University in 1991. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting. From 1988 to 1995 she was a member of the music faculty at Grand Canyon University, where she served as the Director of Choirs from 1993-1995. In addition to her teaching experience, McCreary has served in a number of church music positions in various denominations. An ordained minister, Rev. McCreary is currently the Minister of Music and Worship at Community Church of Hope in Phoenix, AZ. In addition to her work at CCH, she is also the Artistic Director for Arizona Women in Tune, a women's community chorus which is affiliated with GALA, an international choral association. A black-haired maiden begins the dance and sparkles the torches in her rosy glance. The luring of the guitar, the cymbals ring. How wild and wilder in a round dance they coil! Then they rest, worn out from their nightly events. The beechwood murrners as they slumber. And they from their happy homeland are banned; They show in dreams that happy land. But as now in the east the morning awakens, the beautiful thing of night fades away. The scraping of mules' hooves by daylight begins, now pulling the figures, who knows where to? II Brook Larson, conductor Funerallkos JohnTavener m Alicia Wright, conductor Ryan Smit is presently working on his Master's degree in Choral Music Education. He recently received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral and lnstrulllcntal Education l'rom Demit College in Siou\ Center, Iowa, where he was the principal assistant conductor for the Dordt College Kantorei and an assistant conductor for the Dordt College Campus Band. He also sings with the Phoenix Bach Choir and serves as Music Director for Hope Community Church in Scottsdale. Ryan and his wife Amie live in Tempe, along with their two-month-old son Caleb. Adieu, sweet Amarillis Alicia Wright· was horn in Eugene, Oregon and later attended Willamette University in nearby Salem. At Willamette, Alicia studied vocal performance where she played such roles as Yum-Yum in The Mikado and Poppea in The Coronation of Poppea. She is presently working towards her Master's degree in Choral Music Education while also taking coursework to receive her teaching certificate. Alicia is currently student teaching at Westwood High School under the tutelage of Jeff Harris. She will also get a chance to student teach at the elementary level during the fall semester. This has been an extraordinary experience for her and has helped to welcome her into the wonderful world of conducting.
