The program is designed to give prospective teachers practical training in public school classrooms according to Dr. John Bell, associate pro fessor of education. Approxi mately 110 students enrolled in this pilot program have started their training at Valley schools; A laboratory setting replaces the typical education courses previously taken by students in »secondary education. Dr. Bell said, “We hope to integrate all _______ elements into proper relation ship.” 'Hie project is based on the premise that a teacher can be best developed in a situation where both the teachers and students are learning. Feedback about the project is being exchanged in a week ly seminar involving, all parti cipating students. Sponsored by the Center for Family Life Studies Dr. Ed ward Stambrddk, professor of psychiatry, people should try to analyze past experiences and place them in the context of to day’s world. It is seldom the raw experi ence which has the greatest in fluence on one’s life; instead it is the way we visualize it, he said. For example, a person’s opinion of himself may either be “me” or “I ”. Dr. Stainbrook said that those with a “me” concept are passive victims of life while those with the, “I” opinion are assertive agents who take responsibility for themselves in. a creative way.
