Therefore, several of . the presi dents of the fraternities which will be moving onto the “new row ” got together Wednesday night to discuss m utual problems. Their m ain concern is to avoid destruction. For this reason, they are organizing an effective m ethod which w ill be aimed at preventing destructive pranks. As fratern ity men, we do not try to hide th e fact th at occasionally spontaneous incidents occur. The compe titive n atu re of bur existence and our living so closely together often cause such action. WE DO NOT feel this is bad or im m ature. Competi tion is as healthy an American characteristic as can be found. W hat concerns us and th e fratern ity presidents is th a t unnecessary dam age often occurs as a resu lt of this healthy fratern ity competition. This is w hat we are trying to avoid. This w as the reason for the m eeting held W ednesday and is the rea son for thè ones planned in th e n ex t few weeks. A suffiejently Strong legislative enactm ent m ust be made in order to prevent any dam age to th e two-million-dollarplus housing developm ent once it is completed. WE ARE CALLING on th e fratern ity men of this cam pus to aid in form ing a policy which w ill alleviate anticipation of problem s on the new row. F urth er, we ask th a t each and every fratern ity w hole-heartedly support this policy w hen it is form ed and inform its en tire m em bership of every detail in new sahuaro editor says staff workers needed By B A B S M A R LO W E ' E v ery y e a r a h an d fu l of d e voted stu d en ts g rin d out w h a t is form ally k n o w n as a yearbook. However, if a man can meet our quality standards and feels that he is really just beginning to learn . . . and if he is ¡ready to launch his career where learning is ari important part of the job and where gradu ate-level training on and off the job is encour aged —we \v(ant and need him. At Western Electric, in addition to the nor mal learning-while-doing, engineers are en couraged to move ahead in their fields by sever al types of educational programs. Western maintains its own full-time graduate engineer ing, training program, seven formal manage ment courses, and a tuition refund plan for out-of-hours college study. This learning atmosphere is just one reason why a career at Western Electric is so stfniulating. Of equal importance, however, is the nature of the work we do: Our new engineers are taking part in projects that implement the whole-art of modern telephony, from -high speed sound transmission and solar cells to -electronic telephone offices and computer-cohtrolled;production techniques. , Should you join us now, you will be coming to Western Electric at one of the best times in the company’s history. In the management area alone, several thousand supervisory jobs are expected to open up to W.E. people within the next 10 years. And our work of building communications equipment and systems be comes increasingly challenging and important as the communications needs of our nation and the world continue to increase. Challenging opportunities exist new at Western Electric for electrical, mechanical, industrial, and chemi cal engineers, as well as physical science, liberal arts, ' and business majors. A ll qualified applicants will re ceive careful consideration for employment without— regard to race, creed, color or national origin. For more information about Western Electric, write College Rela tions, Western Electric Company, Room 6206, 222 Broadway, New York 38, New York. And be sure to arrange for a Western Electric interview when our college representatives visit your campus. ey esA , . ■ - - * * m m As fa r as night spots go, th e Ranch House Inn is presently providing the best entertainm ent in town.
