The Agua Viva Water Treatment Facility treats surface water and ground water. The treatment process for both plants is depicted in the graphic below. The Agua Viva Water Treatment Facility uses a series of ground water wells. Ground water is pumped from the wells. Chlorine is added, followed by treatment for iron and manganese removal. MRDLGs do not reflect the benefits of the use of disinfectants to control microbial contaminants. TT (Treatment Technique): A required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in drinking water.
