It was a stark reminder to all of us that we live in a dry climate that is surrounded by fire fuel that doesn’t take much to turn into a raging inferno. For reference purposes, the 28,500 acres burned during the Goodwin fire is the equivalent of 44 square miles, the entire town of Dewey-Humboldt only covers 18.5 square miles. The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA), as well as the local volunteer run DeweyHumboldt Firewise committee have identified an immediate need for the funding of two (2) 10,000 gallon water storage tanks, necessary pumps, piping, concrete pads, and required fencing. In addition, a private road needs to be created along the property Right of Way to safely move large fire trucks on and off the property. This will help protect the Dewey -Humboldt area in case of fire. The collaborative fund will be managed by The Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County, a 501 (c)(3) public charity that administers collaborative charitable funds.Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County. Both organizations say there is a lack of easily accessible water in parts of our town that must be dealt with immediately. If not, we are vulnerable to not being able to control a fire that could threaten the town we call home. Dewey-Humboldt Firewise is an all volunteer committee made up of local residents that work with local emergency responders to provide assistance with wildfire abatement. It also supports facilities for local and regional first responders and volunteer services for community communication and coordination aimed at safeguarding the public from impacts of wildfire. CAFMA is the local emergency Fire Department for the town of Dewey Humboldt. It staffs ten fulltime and two reserve stations covering 240 square miles of Yavapai Country including the 4,000+ residents of Dewey Humboldt. Once established, this new water source will assist CAFMA in fighting local structure fires in an area where water has not been available but was previously trucked in via large tankers for any emergency purposes to fight structure fires. Once the fund has reached the required amount necessary to assist in construction of this new water source for CAFMA in the Dewey Humboldt area, the local Firewise committee will oversee the building along with CAFMA, approve the release of funds from the ACF account for vendor payments and all material and labor costs. Your financial assistance is needed no matter how big or small to combat this constant danger that we are trying to stay ahead of. There are 1,600+ households within the town of Dewey-Humboldt, if every households just donates $33 we can begin work on this immediately. The home and land you help save may be your own! Your donation is tax deductible and each donation will receive a thank you letter from both our committee and from "Arizona Community Foundation of Yavapai County". To donate: Please reference your donation to the DeweyHumboldt Firewise Fund in the memo section of your donation. All monies need to go to the ARIZONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF YAVAPAI COUNTY". Our committee needs your help now to ensure the safety of our Town.
