STATE OF ARIZONA Department of Revenue Janet Napolitano Governor 2006 PUBLIC SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS/FEES Individual Income Tax Credit Gale Garriott Director Arizona Revised Statute 43-1089.01 allows a non-refundable credit up to $400 for fees or cash contributions paid to a public school for the support of extracurricular activities or character education programs. Beginning with the 2003 calendar year, public (which includes charter) schools are required to file a report with the Department of Revenue by February 28 of each year indicating the number of donors and their total contributions and/or fees paid, and the amount of contributions and/or fees spent. The report is to be filed regardless if contributions or fees are collected or spent. For tax year 2006, Public Schools reported 216,386 people donated $43.19 million and $35.05 million was spent on extracurricular or character education programs. The contributions/fees and expenditures amounts most likely should not agree on the report as most contributions are received late in the calendar year and are not utilized until the following year. The table titled “2006 Public School Donors and Contributions/Fees Received for Extracurricular Activities or Character Education Programs” lists by district the total amount of donors and the total dollar amount of fees/contributions received and spent. A bold font in the name field indicates that one or more school in that district or charter entity did not submit a report; a shaded box in the data area indicates no school in that district or charter entity submitted a report; a $0 entry indicates the district or charter entity reported receiving/spending no contributions or fees.
