The Lesser Long-nosed Bat eats only nectar from Saguaro and other cactus. E ducators in Pima County are joining forces to include young people in the discussion of the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan. The Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan for Kids outreach and education process will facilitate outdoor experiences and encourage participation and community action with activities and events where children can communicate their visions, goals, and impressions about nature and the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan. Initiated last month with the new Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan Kids Website, the Educators Coalition is growing by the day. Organizations that have been involved in the early stages include: the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Arizona Historical Society, ArizonaSonora Desert Museum, Tohono Chul Park, Tucson Audubon Society, and Tucson Botanical Gardens.These education professionals are working with County staff and Ms. Wendy Burroughs, an Environmental Educator and Wildlife Rehabilitator who is helping to coordinate the Kids Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan Outreach and Public Education effort, to develop curriculum for elementary, middle, and high school students. These contain a full color species illustration and basic facts about Habitat, Range, Diet, Reproduction, Status, and Concern in Pima County.
