Arizona at a Glance – 2013  Approximately 2.31 persons were killed each day.  One person was killed every 10.39 hours.  There were 137.67 persons injured every day.  One person was injured every 10.46 minutes.  Alcohol Related crashes accounted for 4.83% of all crashes and 31.53% of all fatal crashes.  Of all alcohol related crashes, 78.67% occurred in Urban areas and 21.33% occurred in Rural areas, while 59.59% of all alcohol related fatal crashes occurred in Urban areas and 40.41% occurred in Rural areas.  Single vehicle crashes accounted for 17.75% of all crashes and 39.25% of all fatal crashes.  Of all Pedestrian crashes, 9.90% were fatal while 1.47% of Pedalcycle crashes were fatal.  Crashes which occurred during daylight hours (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) accounted for 72.9% of all crashes.  Motor vehicle crashes resulted in $2.993 billion in economic losses to Arizona.  Children age 14 and younger accounted for 48 fatalities and 3,386 injuries in motor vehicle crashes.
