Candidates for the Corporation Commission and the State Legislature are in full campaign mode as they are attempting to collect the necessary $5 qualifying contributions to ensure that they receive funding from the Citizens Clean Elections Commission. For the 2008 election cycle a candidate for Corporation Commission must collect a minimum of 1,650 $5 qualifying contributions while a candidate for the legislature must collect a minimum of 220 $5 qualifying contributions. Candidates have until August 21 to collect and submit the necessary numbers of $5 qualifying contributions Just as the candidates are working hard it is now your turn to become involved. Learn about the candidates; see where they stand when it comes to the issues that are important to you. You are in control, not special interests. The Citizens’ Clean Elections Act was created to allow you to have a voice in the political process, so take advantage of it. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Commissioner Marcia Busching for her service on the Commission as her term expired on January 31. Commissioner Busching was a tremendous asset to the Commission and we appreciate all she has done for the citizens of Arizona. In addition, I would like to welcome our newest member, former state Senator Lori Daniels who replaces Commissioner Busching. I look forward to working with Commissioner Daniels over the coming year and know her experience at the legislature will bring valuable insight to the Commission. I wish every candidate running for office the very best of luck and encourage everyone to become involved in the political process. Let your voice be heard. Sincerely, This Bulletin is intended to be an informational tool used to update parties regarding the Commission’s projects and developments.
