Citizens Clean Elections Commission Bulletin Volume 4, Quarter 4 November 2007 Message from the Chair The Thanksgiving holiday is two weeks away and that can mean only one thing; the 2008 election cycle is knocking on our door. For some, the work began in August as candidates for the Corporation Commission began collecting their $5 qualifying contributions. For others it will begin in earnest on January 1st as that is the first day candidates for the legislature are allowed to collect their $5 qualifying contributions. For everyone else, 2008 means a time to be inundated with campaign fliers and to see signs dotting the landscape. But 2008 is also a chance for voters to talk to the candidates and find out where they stand on the issues. Because of Clean Elections, candidates are no longer beholden to special interest dollars but to the voters. In order to collect the necessary $5 contributions, candidates must talk to you, the voters, and listen to your concerns. Take the opportunity to let the candidates know what is important to you and your community. Your voice carries a lot of weight, make sure you use it. Inside the Bulletin News and Notes - 2 Information - 3 As always, if you ever have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact the Commission at 602-364-3477 or email us at ccec@azcleanelections.com.
