Arizona SHSP Executive Committee Agencies
Arizona Department of Transportation:
To provide a safe, efficient, cost-effective transportation system.

Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety:
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) is the focal point for highway safety issues in Arizona. GOHS is
a cabinet agency that provides leadership by developing, promoting and coordinating programs; influencing public and
private policy; and increasing public awareness of highway safety.

Arizona Department of Public Safety:
To protect human life and property by enforcing state laws, deterring criminal activity, ensuring highway and public
safety and providing vital scientific, technical and operational support to other criminal justice agencies.

Arizona Department of Health Services:
Setting the standard for personal and community health through direct care, science, public policy and leadership.

Federal Highway Administration:
To improve mobility on our Nation’s highways through national leadership, innovation and program delivery.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration:
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is focused on reducing crashes, injuries and fatalities involving
large trucks and buses.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration:
The mission of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of
Transportation (DOT), is to save lives, prevent injuries and reduce economic costs due to road traffic crashes, through
education, research, safety standards and enforcement activity.
