In May, we are expecting further budget discussions among town council, staff and the community. It is possible that the Council adopts the Tentative FY 15-16 budget in May. The Tentative budget sets the expenditure limit. The State determines DH expenditure limitation as approximately $4 million. Historically, the Town’s actual operational expenditure has been around $2 million. As many of you know, the town’s fiscal year stars July 1 each year. All Council budget discussions are public meetings and will be posted accordingly. You are welcome to attend. In May, the Council is also expected to recognize all nominations for the Volunteer of the Year (2014) and select the Volunteer of the Year for the DH community. Town wants to thank those who have kindly made a nomination (or two). Please stayed tuned for the selection. Late May, the Town is scheduled to chip seal some town owned paved roads. As you know the Town implemented a 6year paved road maintenance plan in 2012. Each year the town follows the schedule and maintains about 6.5 miles of paved roads by either fog coating them or chip sealing. It costs over $200,000 a year and is part of the Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF) expenditures. The fog -coating and chip-sealing work is generally done by qualified contractors. This year, Henderson Rd., Yavapai Dr., Foothill Dr., Green Valley Rd. and Holiday Dr. are on the schedule to be re-chipped. Please be aware of the construction crew when you are out during the work. Town staff maintains the total of 50 miles of town roads year around including 39 miles paved roads and 11 miles of dirt roads. If you have questions your roads, please call the Town’s Public Works Department at 632-7362. In April, some of you attended the clean-up days at Mayer Transfer station. If you did not make the April dates, on Saturday May 2, the Town is partnering with Prescott Valley for a clean-up event.
